What We Do

The North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) has invested £10 million to support the growth of the digital sector across the North of Tyne by:

• Raising aspirations and demonstrating the opportunities in digital for all
• Kick-starting digital innovation
• Providing a seamless full service and journey for individuals and companies
• Growing the talent pipeline
• Attracting digital and tech companies to the area and creating new jobs

We have developed six programmes and have partnered with 14 organisations all with expertise in the sector, to deliver and support your digital needs.

National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD)

NICD helps organisations to unlock value in their data by helping organisations to learn new data skills to become more productive. NICD blends teams of academics and industry experts with organisations to understand their industry and business problem. SME’s operating in all sectors across the North of Tyne can benefit from the service through exploring data, finding efficiencies and creating new products and services to support business growth.

Digital Pathfinders

Digital Pathfinders supports businesses across the North of Tyne become more successful and resilient by adopting digital technology. Providing specialised events and expert one to one support, Digital Pathfinder’s demonstrates how adopting new technology can drive business productivity and performance.

The programme will raise awareness and empower people and organisations who think digital and tech is not relevant to them and explore how businesses can be more productive, resilient and innovative by using technology.

Digital Inward Investment

The North of Tyne Digital Inward Investment Programme, delivered by Invest Newcastle, will support the attraction of inward investors to the North of Tyne area operating in the digital and tech sector. This programme will promote the area as a world-class place in which to live, work and invest in. Through the attraction of new business to the area, the programme will support the growth of the digital sector and the creation of new jobs.

Digital Cluster

The Digital Cluster programme, led by Innovation Supernetwork, will facilitate the development of digital clusters with potential to build collaborative support systems around these clusters in the North of Tyne.  These clusters could include FinTech, Cyber Security, Health and Care Tech, Digital Entertainment.  The programme will connect clusters to innovation expertise and market opportunities to help SME’s grow through bespoke innovation support, innovation challenges to accelerate market access for innovation and access to finance support. Through Health Network North, the AHSN will provide a cluster test bed for Digital Health.

Ignite North East

Ignite North East is supporting the development of a digital business pipeline by immersing teams with experienced entrepreneurs and delivering world-class workshops to expose them to active investors. Ignite is helping to grow the start-up pipeline and increase the number of digital and tech start-up businesses by helping entrepreneurs and new business founders turn ideas into viable businesses.

Talent Engine

Dynamo’s Digital Talent Engine will drive collaboration between employers and education providers to support the creation of meaningful digital roles across the North of Tyne area. Talent Engine supports:

• Employers to offer more training-orientates entry-point roles
• Candidates to build their understanding of roles available and how their skills and interests align
• Academic and training organisations to enable and support the building of relevant skills and matching of candidates to jobs.
