Works 4U is led by Back 2 Work Complete Training with North Tyneside Council, Groundwork North East & Cumbria and Humankind as delivery partners.

Works4U provides intensive holistic support, delivered in hyper-local community settings, with activities that are individually paced and act as a building block to progression. Activities are focused on routes to employment, for participants and their immediate household, through individualised progression plans and access to:

  • Someone to talk to when needed: for stressful events, a listening ear and voice of reason and guidance, including a Support Hotline for coaching and confidence building.
  • On-demand resources: easy-to-use self-directed digital career development platform; accessible 24/7.
  • Specialist support services: through our partner network and Intervention Fund.
  • Colleges/training providers for sector-based training with access to progression.
  • Opportunities to try things out without fear of failure, including wide variety of volunteering opportunities to improve their confidence.
  • Transition support and warm handover to other provision as required with Key Support Mentor contact maintained for up to 4 weeks, to ensure continuous participant support during the transition phase.

The project activities are designed to enhance employability skills while addressing barriers reported by participants including those with disabilities or health conditions, social isolation, mental and physical health challenges, low attainment, and related issues like caring responsibilities nutrition, financial concerns, functional skills, criminal records, and housing issues.

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is delivered until March 2025.
