Solid Foundations provides support to economically inactive residents living in Northumberland, who are experiencing a range of barriers to employment

Solid Foundations provides support to economically inactive residents living in Northumberland, who are experiencing a range of barriers to employment. Solid Foundations started on 1st July 2023 and will deliver until 31 March 2025.

Solid Foundations is delivered by a not-for-profit partnership of six voluntary community organisations, each providing individual specialisms:

Citizens Advice Northumberland; Cygnus Support; Northern Learning Trust; Community Action Northumberland; Northumberland Community & Voluntary Action; and Blyth Resource and Initiative Centre.

The project has been designed to meet each person’s specific needs and to provide personal support. It aims to address deeper problems that go beyond just creating a CV, such as debt, mental health issues, physical health, disability, literacy, numeracy, addiction, past offending and self-belief.  This approach ensures that individuals have a better chance of succeeding in finding employment.

Each participant enrolled on the Solid Foundations project receives one-to-one contact through a keyworker, who helps to tailor the support they receive and support them on their journey.

Individuals or organisations interested in accessing support can do so via the Solid Foundations website

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
