Open Doors: Beyond Barriers is led by Newcastle College, with Newcastle United Foundation, Winnovation, Education Partnerships North East, the Prince’s Trust, Children North East, Groundwork North East & Cumbria and The Key as delivery partners.

The project will offer residents across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland a unique employment journey, supporting them via a suite of varied activities provided by the partners on the project, ensuring they adopt positive routines suited to their specific needs and move positively towards and into employment.

Activity will be delivered in the heart of our communities, with participants receiving dedicated 1:1 support to address health and wellbeing barriers to work, and:

  • Increase confidence to apply for a job.
  • Develop interpersonal skills and engage in life skills.
  • Gain accredited qualifications.
  • Become aware of green skilled jobs.
  • Improve ICT and other skills to improve chances of employment success.
  • Improve their financial stability, self-esteem and health.

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is delivered until March 2025.
