What’s the programme?

The package of support aspires to develop a vibrant screen industry in the North East by integrating various sectors and promoting diversity and inclusiveness.

North East Screen works with emerging professionals, home grown filmmakers, production companies and artist filmmakers specialising in film, TV and screen-based arts, developing them through their North East Comedy Hot House and North East Screen Crew Academy. Through their Film Office, they support regional commercial film and TV production.

The package of support includes:

  • Business Development and Support A number of networking events, workshops and bootcamps designed to support those in the industry. From signposting to funding opportunities and support on pitch development to ensuring your business is fit for purpose and commission ready.
  • A Skills and Education Service to support new entrants to the industry and to upskill existing employees to support career progression. The NE Screen Crew Academy offers a comprehensive support system which includes bootcamps, masterclasses, workshops, careers events, on-set open days and shadow placements.  offering invaluable advice on how to get your
  • Access to finance There are various support initiatives and funding options for both crew and production companies based in the region.

North East Screen currently works in partnerships with the region’s local authorities, combined authorities and has links to commissioners, production companies and TV networks, all to make the North East a Filming Friendly region for all productions.
