Energy Central, situated in Blyth, Northumberland, is the UK’s unique port-based service, investment and growth cluster for companies operating in the offshore energy, subsea, decommissioning, battery manufacturing and renewable energy markets

The North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) is working with the existing Energy Central partnership, comprised of Advance Northumberland, Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult to identify innovation and growth opportunities for businesses working across:  

  • Renewable Energy 
  • Offshore Wind 
  • Subsea Engineering 
  • Decommissioning 
  • Battery Manufacturing 
  • Energy Storage 

The NTCA, in partnership with Northumberland County Council and the UK Government Towns Fund, is funding the £13.6m Energy Central Learning Hub. Once completed, the hub will provide a range of state-of-the-art industrial training, education and STEM-related skills facilities. 

Due to be completed in Autumn 2024, the Hub will include major conferencing capabilities, events space and a lecture theatre to encourage collaboration between employers, education institutions and research facilities. Advance Northumberland is delivering the Energy Central Learning Hub in partnership with Galliford Try.
