North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) are excited to announce that we’re working with Energy Saving Trust (ESTto develop a housing stock database.

This will inform ambitious decarbonisation plans with retrofit scenario modelling, job creation figures and funding options analysis in the North of Tyne.  NTCA, and our three Local Authorities have ambitions of becoming national leaders in our pursuit of net zero emissions and the creation of good green jobs.

Significant work has already been undertaken to improve the energy efficiency of local homes in the area, but our region still has some of the highest levels of fuel poverty in the UK. Over 40% of the housing stock falls below an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band of C, which according to EST estimates equates to 140,000 homes that will require some form of retrofit.
