The North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) have secured a further £9million in funding from the Department of Education (DfE) for the next phase in the Skills Bootcamps programme.
This phase will run across the region from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024 and aims to help over 5,000 people in the North of Tyne find employment in growing industries, change careers, or get the skills they need to move into a better job.
In the NTCA area Skills Bootcamps are available in a range of skills areas giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills with a local employer. Skills Bootcamps offer bespoke training solutions to bridge existing skills gaps within high demand sectors and place the employer at the centre of training and development.
The programme benefits employers by enabling them to fill specific skills shortages and team vacancies – increasing productivity within their organisations. Additionally, Skills Bootcamps provides adults in the North of Tyne region access to sought-after training and a guaranteed fast-track interview for good quality work.
Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, delivered in partnership with employers and training providers.
Skills Bootcamps builds upon the North of Tyne’s Skills Commissioning of the Adult Education Budget and Skills Bootcamps delivered under previous waves. Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s National Skills Fund investments helping adults to gain the skills that are sought by employers. Read the NTCA Skills Plan Opportunity for All.
Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life.
