The fund aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK to pilot programmes and new approaches to investing in skills, community and place and local business and supporting people into employment.
UK Government identified the North of Tyne Combined Authority as the Lead Authority for Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland and North Tyneside with responsibility for inviting, assessing, prioritising, and submitting shortlisted bids to government of up to £9m in total.

View ProjectKickstart is a new Government initiative that provides funding to employers to create 6-month job placements for 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment.
Additional funding is available to employers for each Placement to ensure the young person is fully supported and leaves the Programme prepared to enter work.
The Combined Authority recognises the scale of the challenge to reduce carbon emissions but also the opportunity that the shift to a green economy presents for the North of Tyne area.
The Combined Authority is establishing a £9m Green New Deal Fund which can deliver significant carbon reductions as well as supporting new industry and jobs in areas where emissions reductions are most needed.

View ProjectOn the 30th June 2020 the North of Tyne Combined Authority were awarded £24m of Government funding to allow local authorities to target additional investment towards brownfield sites requiring intervention.
This funding will support the delivery of up to 2,500 additional homes in the North of Tyne area on brownfield land by 2025.

It was the first ever OVO Energy Tour of Britain stage to link all the areas of the North of Tyne Combined Authority, with the route taking in Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The Return to Work Carers’ pilot will help our residents who have caring commitments, but want to find work, access a range of route-ways to local jobs.
It is available to both adult carers and young adult carers and is being delivered by an innovative partnership between the NTCA, carer support organisations and local employers.

View ProjectThe North of Tyne Combined Authority are working with Harwood Education in partnership with UN CC:Learn (The One United Nations Climate Change Learning Partnership). The aim is to bring world-class environmental education to every school in the North of Tyne.
As part of the scheme, each state-funded school in the combined authority area has been given the opportunity to receive fully funded CPD to train at least one member of staff as a UN-accredited climate change teacher.

The North of Tyne Combined Authority has been working with employers and other key stakeholders to understand what ‘Good Work’ is and how we as a Combined Authority can promote and reward employers that are offering the main elements of ‘Good Work’.
Through collaboration, we have developed the Good Work Pledge, which enables employers to understand the key elements of ‘Good Work’, what they can do to achieve this for their employees and what support is available to help them get there.
