The Department for Work and Pensions has launched a £2 billion Kickstart Scheme which will put young people at the heart of the economic recovery.

The Kickstart Scheme will support businesses to create six month paid work placements for young people aged 16-24 years of age. The Kickstart Scheme is available to any business across all sectors including the private, public and voluntary and community sectors. Supporting young people to develop the skills and tools needed to access good employment is a key pillar of the Combined Authority’s Economic Vision.

We are keen to work with our stakeholders to maximise the impact of the Kickstart Scheme for young people and businesses alike, and to utilise the support package to further our ambitions for an inclusive economic recovery. Businesses that wish to employ 30 or more young people through the scheme can apply directly to the Government and could do so here. Organisations looking to take on fewer placements must work with a Representative intermediary to apply on their behalf.

Kickstart Representative for North of Tyne: The North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) are considering proposals to act as a Representative for employers operating in the Newcastle, North Tyneside or Northumberland area.

We are interested in representing organisations who can offer quality placements which provide our young people with the best opportunity of progressing into good employment or further training once the Kickstart placement has completed.
