Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council

Councillor Richard Wearmouth is the Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council and Cabinet member at the North of Tyne Combined Authority.

Cllr Wearmouth is councillor for Morpeth Kirkhill.

As Northumberland CC Cabinet member and Chair of Advance Northumberland, Cllr Wearmouth worked to ensure the progress of the ‘Northumberland Line’ project.

Within the Combined Authority, Cllr Wearmouth is portfolio holder for Clean Energy and Connectivity and with support from the NTCA Officers works to focus on investing in innovation, digital connectivity and recovery from the impacts of covid.

Outside his role as an elected Councillor, Richard has a wealth of experience in town and county planning and environmental science, particularly in the field of power and energy, a sector in which he has worked for the best part of two decades.
