Beth Farhat is Regional Secretary of the Northern TUC and NTCA Inclusive Economy Board member.
In her role at TUC, she represents 58 trade unions and 400,000 members in the northern region, which covers the North East and Cumbria.
Beth began her working life as an apprentice through a programme managed by the North East Chamber of Commerce in 1997. She became a UNITE the union representative at the age of 20.
In 2003 Beth joined the TUC and was appointed Regional Secretary of the Northern TUC in 2013. Under her leadership the Northern TUC coordinate the Better Health at Work Award which currently has over 420 employers engaged in the workplace health and wellbeing programme aimed to improve public health and tackle health inequality.
She represents the Northern TUC on the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP) Employment and Skills Board and the North East Combined Authority Economic Development and Digital Advisory Board. She is also a member of the IPPR Environmental Justice Commission.Declaration of Interests
